From Philadelphia to the Philippines
Hermine Dornbach, the third of five children, was born in her family’s Philadelphia home on February 27, 1911. Coal and ice deliveries kept their home warm and the food cool. Gas lamps illuminated their home which did not have electricity.
Zelda Long Fischer: Long-evity
Zelda Long, named after the wife of writer F. Scott’s Fitzgerald, was born in Hunlock Creek, Pennsylvania over 101 years ago. Zelda, the firstborn, grew up in a loving home with her father, mother, two brothers and two sisters, and experienced “a lot of good food, fun and laughter.”
Mildred Nicholson Bell
At age 105, Mildred Bell stands as the matriarch of Pitman. After all, she has lived there her entire life and proudly describes herself as a “Pitmanite through and through.”
One In Six Thousand
In developed countries, the prevalence of centenarians is about one in six thousand. Soon, for the third consecutive year, Esther Miller Blaetz Ash will celebrate membership in that small demographic. Esther has lived at The Shores at Wesley Manor for eight years in an apartment home.
